We’ve been long time admirers of The Big Friendly and their delightful beers. A few years back at GABF we heard their name announced and were stunned at how fun their name was. Little did we know we’d be hearing it announced over and over again during the ceremony. Surprise, surprise The Big Friendly wins again! A few years later we found ourselves in the same room with them, and had to pay our respects. That led us to this fun friendly collab.
Turns out it’s not easy to get from Oklahoma City to Long Beach while running a brewery. But it also turns out technology can be pretty cool (sometimes). We were able to put together a recipe via email and do a video chat with Joe and Will on brew day to feel like we were all at the brewery together. We weren’t able to simulate a grain out, but you better believe we got that laptop up on the brew deck for a photo.
The result of this process is a tropical fruit basket of a Hazy IPA. Full of piña colada / tiki punch vibes, pineapple and peach candy notes. Remote Friendly is a creative collab over a long distance, a fun way to see the styles of both of our breweries come together for something our communities can enjoy!
